| EuropeanaTravel ObjectivesEuropeanaTravel has two main objectives as a project: Its first objective is to digitise a substantial number of resources from major university libraries and national libraries of Europe to make them available via Europeana. The materials to be digitised will include books, maps, manuscripts, photos, film negatives, postcards and other types of objects related to the theme of travel and tourism, one of the priorities content themes identified by Europeana. Altogether EuropeanaTravel aims to digitise some 4,000 maps, 16,000 images and 20,000 texts. The second objective is to further strengthen collaboration between CENL and LIBER,aimed at increasing human interoperability in support of Europeana. In addition to that, the project will deliver an aggregation service, a tool which will enable LIBER member institutions to aggregate their materials in order to be included into the Europeana portal. The service will be developed in a scalable way to enable any research library to use it. Duration and fundingEuropeanaTravel is a two-year targeted project, running from 1 May 2009 to 30 April 2011. 50% of the project's funding comes from the European Commission's eContentplus Programme.
